Great Grandfather John Pitcairn, born in 1841 in Johnstone, Scotland near Glasgow. Emigrated with his family at five years old to Pittsburgh. Known as the moral giant among robber barons, he co-founded Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company, PPG Industries. Later bought open country land near Philadelphia and created a community called Bryn Athyn.
